Winter Solstice Celebration at Lunt Meadows

December 20, 2024 @ 3:30 pm6:30 pm

Join our Lunt Meadows team for a wonderful Winter Solstice lantern walk and fire-pit session.

Celebrate the Winter Solstice with something a little different this December.

We’ll take you on a short, guided walk across Lunt Meadows as the sun starts to dip low, to the site of our Stone Age ancestor’s settlement where we will have a cosy fire-pit set up, ready to warm you up. Honorary Curator of Prehistoric Archaeology at National Museums Liverpool Ron Cowell, who worked on the Lunt dig, will be giving a talk about the solstice and there is also the option to participant in a guided meditation exercise.

We will provide some refreshments and fire-side snacks (please do let us know of any dietary requirements or allergies when booking).

This event is weather-dependent and will be in the early evening so it can get quite chilly. Please dress warmly (hat, scarves, gloves, warm coat/jacket) and wear appropriate footwear as the paths could be uneven or a little muddy (i.e. hiking boots/wellies).

You can also bring:

  • A small torch
  • Your own camping chairs
  • Blankets
  • Mugs/flasks

At the end of the session, we’ll be walking back to the car park guided by all the wonderful willow lanterns that have been made in the previous workshops.

This event is suitable for all ages.

If you booked onto our Lantern Making Workshop event, you will already have entry to this event, so no need to book – but do remember to bring the lantern you made for the walk.
