Join Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Fylde Council for a guided walk out onto the Ribble Estuary to explore one of our most overlooked and undervalued habitats. We’ll take a closer look at the plants and wildlife of the saltmarsh and uncover the vital role it plays in our natural environment.
Led by local experts, we’ll explore the saltmarsh plants, birds, and hidden wildlife that thrive in this unique habitat. As we walk (wellies recommended!), we’ll also talk about the vital role saltmarshes play in protecting our coastlines, supporting biodiversity, and helping us tackle climate change.
This event is part of the Our Future Coast project – a national initiative exploring how natural solutions like saltmarsh can help communities become more resilient to flooding and climate change. Here in Fylde, we’ll be looking at how saltmarshes contribute to coastal defence, and how local people can get involved.
If you’re inspired to do more, there’ll be a chance to hear about future volunteering opportunities – from collecting data and supporting saltmarsh restoration to growing plants in our brand-new saltmarsh nursery.
