An amazing day of food, drink and free attractions including a D Day commemoration war reenactment is in store as the Accrington Food & Drink Festival returns on Saturday 7th June. Last year saw 10,000 visitors enjoying the sunshine and entertainment.
The Food Festival’s main cooking demonstration area will be headlined by TV and Michelin Star Chef, Glynn Purnell, demonstrating how to recreate a Michelin worthy dish at home. Netflix star Molly Robbins will be once again showcasing her extremely talented cake decorating skills live, alongside local talent.
Attractions are on offer across the town centre including the main cooking demonstration area, continental market, food, drink and craft stalls, fairground rides, and the Accrington Market pods on the town square. There will be plenty on offer to eat and drink as you relax and take in the goings on.
The event also pays tribute to the anniversary of the D-Day landings in World War II with a special commemoration including a war re-enactment set in the grounds of St James’ Church, which also features an impressive lone piper performance.
1940s singers bring entertainment to this lovely place to sit for a while, and there will be an interesting demonstration from a bomb disarmament specialist. Visitors are encouraged to dress in 1940s style clothes.
