Join Julie McKiernan in a creative writing workshop inspired by the architecture and landscape of Haigh Woodland Park. This friendly and accessible workshop will include looking at examples of different locations in literature and beginning to craft our own stories, scripts or poems.
Julie specialises in heritage-based writing. You may have seen her performing her scripts as part of ‘Heritage With a Twist’, attended one of her local history talks, tours or creative writing workshops or read one of her essays and books such as ‘Leigh Girls’ Grammar School: Swift & Sure’.
“Really enjoyed the workshop. Made me think both horizontally and vertically.”
Julie has also had plays performed and workshopped by professional theatre companies, and used them to train health and social care professionals. She is a qualified tutor with over thirty years’ experience teaching Writing and Drama.
Made possible with support from Healthy Arts and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.
This workshop takes place in the new ‘Amphitheatre for a Tree’ area near the Hall or, if the weather is inclement, on the first floor of the Stables Courtyard, in the Classroom. There is a lift to the first floor, accessible toilets on the ground floor and accessible parking.
The workshop is aimed at adults but is suitable for ages 14+ whether you are a beginner or a more experienced writer.
