This course will investigate the history of Lancashire women, their home lives, their work lives and their role in the Textile industry in Lancashire. We will also look at the development of the Women’s movements in Lancashire and the important women who played a huge role in the development of women’s rights beyond the county and across the country.  We will look at women’s changing roles in the textile industry and their fight for equality at home and at work. This course is about the real women of Lancashire and their stories, family stories and experiences from those attending are welcomed and encouraged. No prior knowledge of history is required just an interest in people and places and a desire to learn about the amazing stories of this county. Participants are encouraged to bring their own stories and research on the topic to share with the group.

This course is delivered by Lancashire Adult Learning. Free to all adults over 19 but must be booked in advance. This course runs over two sessions on consecutive Tuesdays; please make sure you are able to attend both before booking your place.
